The Iyo name stone has cracks on the surface of the white stone.

In Tobe Town, the production area of Iyomeito, there is an area called "Nanaore"

The road down the mountain bends seven times and was a horse-drawn road along which grindstones were transported at the time.

The plum blossoms that bloom there are a specialty of Tobe and are known as "Nanaori Koume" (Seven-folded plums), and are familiar to the people of Tobe Town.

The cracks in this whetstone resembled the branches of a seven-folded plum tree, and so it came to be called "koume."

Cracks are abhorrent in natural whetstones, but the Iyo Meito stone, known as Koume, is popular for its beautiful, fine grain structure and does not harm blades.

How about getting one as a companion for your life, a companion to your favorite knife, and a finishing touch to your kitchen knife?
